This workshop is hosted at the Maine Outdoor Wellness Center in North Turner, ME. The program runs from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 5. Morning figure session runs from 9AM to noon, afternoon portrait runs from 1PM to 4PM. Light refreshments will be served from 5-6 on Friday to celebrate the end of the workshop.
Students will have an unrivaled chance to work on both a long figure pose and a long portrait, mounting to 30 hours of model time. Our model, Sierra, is a consistent, seasoned professional. Students will have the opportunity to push themselves to observe the live model and become familiar with comparative measurement, while receiving daily critiques and instruction on their drawings/paintings. They will also have the opportunity to watch Haid demo. Students will leave the course with a stronger understanding of academic realism, measurement techniques, design attentiveness and narrative within their work. Come ready to focus and ask lots of questions as we pursue the academic drawing tradition together!
There is 1 hour for lunch. Students are encouraged to bring their own lunch, or travel up the road to Nezinscot Farm to purchase something to eat.

+ Artist Bio
Haid is a painter from Western Maine. He is deeply interested in the development of narratives within his paintings that blend the figure, portrait and landscape, with deep roots in his home and memories. He has an ambition to create work that is deeply personal and expansive. He is a graduate of the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts' Core program and keeps a studio in Norway ME.
+ Supplies & Materials
All students must bring an easel they are comfortable using. There will be a mix of seating and standing options.
For students that are drawing, a wide range of graphite pencils/tools are encouraged. Blades and sandpaper for sharpening tools and kneaded erasers are a must. Strathmore 400 series 18x24 paper is a great size. Bring a drawing board and clips for your easel.
For students that are painting in oil, a simple limited palette is recommended. Yellow ochre, cad red light, ivory black and white of your choice. Please use gamsol in a covered container for solvent. 18x24 primed linen is recommended. Centurion fine texture linen is a great, affordable choice.

Registration and Enrollment Information
Registration and enrollment for workshops operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Full Payment Required:
Registration must be paid in full at enrollment to secure a spot in the workshop. Registrants without payment or payment arrangements will not be on the roster.
Refund Policy:
Students may request a full refund for workshop registrations within 72 hours of signing up, provided that the workshop has not yet started. The refund request must be made within this 72-hour period for consideration. If the minimum enrollment is not met, participants will be notified and receive a full refund.
